When 13-year-old Cameron Simmons called the cops following
a fight with his mother, he may have expected help, but there’s no

After speaking with Cameron, Sumter, South Carolina police officer
Gaetano Acerra could tell the boy had more issues to deal with than
the one he was sent to handle. Cameron told him about the back pain
he suffered as a result of sleeping on a malfunctioning air mattress
and confided that he really didn’t want to live with his mother any longer.

This is what the Officer did next…
Officer Gaetano Acerra gave young Cameron
someone to talk to.
And a queen-size bed to sleep on.
And a TV to play his brand-new video game system on.
And a desk, and chairs, and a bunch of other things that
the boy was in need of.

“My heart went out for him,” said Acerra. “I thought the little
things that he needed I could give him, to make him a happier kid.”
