In the middle of the French Alps, there is a famous mountain range named the Mont
Blanc massif. Then, at the very top of Mont Blanc, there is a mountain called
Aiguille du Midi, which translates to “Needle of the Middle.”
The tall mountain is an impressive sight to be seen. The cable car that can transport
visitors to the summit holds the record as the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world.
Once you read the top of the Needle, there is a viewing platform,
one of the most extreme you will ever see.
The viewing platform is at the top of Aiguille du Midi.
It’s called Step Into The Void… and we can see why.
The glass-bottomed box gives a stunning view of Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc.
The view is 1,035 meters straight down.
It’d take some guts to take part in this attraction.
Are your palms sweating yet?
How about now?
It took three years to build the platform.
It has five transparent sides, each made of three layers of tempered glass fixed
with metal to a big support structure.
Would you put your trust in modern engineering and step out onto this ledge?

“Step Into The Void” opened in December 2013. So far, the glass skywalk is a hit with
tourists who want to walk on the wild side… by basically walking on nothing at all.
